Hair Greatness - Jean Harlow

A new theme I'm going to start up. I'm going to post some excellent hair and tell why it is excellent. First in this series is Jean Harlow. Yes, she is my ultimate favourite. I have a tattoo in her honor, that's how deep the love runs. I love everything about her, including her iconic HAIR.

Early Jean Harlow (1929-1931) had a vampy quality to her. She had darker, thicker eyebrows that were lower. Her stare was ice-cold. And her hair was absolute white and tight! Tight as in, fingerwaved. It was most certainly in the style of the time, but those platinum ridges makes me think of the icing on top of a cake. Jean's hair makes me crave sweet things.

1932 to 1935 was the iconic Jean most know of today. Her hair became looser and longer (keeping up with the trends) and she was given her glamourous MGM makeover, which included her trademark high, thin eyebrows. Jean became the comedienne we all know and love during this time. In some films, such as 1933's Bombshell, she lets her hair fly all over the place.

1936 and 1937 brought on a more mature Jean Harlow. The 1930s "platinum blonde" look was falling out of fashion. To stay relevant, she died her hair a soft brown colour. During her last two years of life, Jean sported hair that was very full and very curly! Almost ringlet-like. The darker hair actually did wonders for her gorgeous face and the curls framed it like a painting. In all three incarnations of Jean Harlow, she always had good hair!

On with the Harlow Hair Porn:

***Disclaimer: Yes, I am well aware Jean wore wigs sometimes. Wigs can be Hair Porn, too!
