Dress #18 -- Marian Martin 9381 (1938)

I've had this pattern for years. I made it once in 2008 and it came out odd, but I decided to try it again now that I am a slightly better sewer. Nope. Didn't like it at all.

I actually started sewing this dress in June or July and I stopped because it annoyed me so much. First of all, I hate that inset. HATE. It's 4 pieces of fabric folded over which makes it bulky and stupid looking. No idea why so thick. So stupid. Second, the bodice just sucks. I knew I avoided gathers and kimono sleeves for a reason. Both are not my taste. And third -- this dress pattern is TOO BIG! I look frumpy and matronly in it. I have it cleverly pulled back to fit for the photo ;)

The most interesting thing about this pattern is the newspaper pieces inside. Enjoy!

Dress #17 -- Gertie's "Blue Wool Work Dress" (2016)

From her "Ultimate Dress Book", I made Gertie's "Blue Wool Work Dress" yesterday in one day! It was a quick, easy thing to make and I was very excited about how it turned out! Of course, it's not blue and not wool, though! I'm at poverty level right now, so I have to work with what I have in my stash. I had JUST the perfect amount of this red cotton. Like, I thought I wasn't going to make it. Then I decided on the white trim and it turned out just Annie-riffic! It fits perfectly (size 10) and it's something I will actually wear. It was so simple to make I decided to add an "A" to it!

Dress #16 -- Simplicity 8062 (1950s Repro)

Just something I sewed for a 2 year old cousin by request of my grandmother. I admit, I hated making it. But here it is. LOL.

Dress #15 -- McCall's 3992 (1974)

Yes, my sewing has been lacking in Colorado!! I have been hiking about 75 miles a month up and down mountains and I went on a LOT of dates this summer....lol. Now that I am living on one income and paying my own way, the sewing budget just isn't there like it used to be. I'm trying to use my stash, but I've been prioritizing my fitness right now. I've lost 15lbs here and size 14 patterns are beginning to become too large. But I squeezed in a small project recently:

Making 2020 Interesting

I know this used to be a sewing blog, but I have only sewn two thing in two years. I plan to start doing in again in the upcoming months as...
