New Times!

I have not blogged here in over a year. I only sewed maybe 3 things last year. I was stricken with SEVERE eczema that was really affecting my life. My hands were practically useless. My entire body was covered in scabs and rough patches. I could not exercise because sweat just made it flare up real bad. So I gained some weight and couldn't fit into my patterns anymore (I am CRAP at resizing and don't care to learn it better.) I'm losing it now, but in the meantime I discovered Estate Sales and Goodwill scores lol! And here are some!

I'm not much into the "vintage lifestyle" anymore, although it is very much a part of who I am. After being in Colorado for 5 years now I am turning into a "Coloradan" -- hiking, cycling, camping. I mostly wear stuff from places like REI (I'm kinda of a basic bitch these days lol). But I enjoy dressing to go out and these are just a few of the things I like to wear out and about. Hopefully I will pick sewing back up by this summer when I project most of my weight will come off :)

Dress #2 -- Simplicity 7283 (1985)

I ADORE this shirt!! It is sooooo 80s! The back hem is longer than the front hem and I distinctly remember wearing that style in 5th grade (1985/86!). The fabric gives it a "Miami Vice" feel and I purposely upped the "80s"ness of it by belting it, rolling the sleeves, and popping the collar! I love it!

Patterns for .25 each!

Ugly Patterns!

I've always LOVED "ugly" stuff. Like, hideous, awful, terrible stuff. I think it's better to be this than just mediocre. So I've taken it upon myself to collect some UGLY sewing patterns. I have rule when getting these fugly beauties added to my collection: I will not spend more than $2.00 for an ugly pattern. Yea, I like 'em ugly, but I'm not crazy! So far, I got these:

Next two are from 1978

I seriously never knew I needed adult Annie patterns until I saw them. Annie was my absolute fave when I was a kid so OF COURSE I needed these!!! Can't lie, I love the bottom one and don't think it's ugly at all. I will make and wear that one! The top one, though, is just wrong.

1983

1987

I just LOVE that pink version! But I wouldn't have been caught dead in a dress like this in 1987. I was all long black skirts, turquoise Chuck's, and Smiths t-shirts.

1991

I did have an outfit similar to the grey on ein the foreground in 1990. Except it was pukey yellowy green. I remember wearing it to our family vacation to Boston that year so I'm sure my dad has a bunch of pics....

And that is my small collection right now. I paid no more than two bucks for each of these, but I would love to add a horribly 1950s "Sack Dress" pattern to this collection. I know I won't find one of those for $2.00, lol.
